We have been building…
Building hope in the
fight against poverty and hunger.
Building strong
educational foundations to prepare for a brighter future.
Building healthier
lives.
For over ten years, Hazon
Yeshaya has been building!
Now we are pleased to invite you to
join our NEW building effort – the building of a central humanitarian facility
for the needy of Israel. Our new central facility will provide
room for our food
distribution programs, educational efforts and social programs for the
needy of Israel. Providing greater efficiency, in costs and in management,
the
central facility would enable the following to be housed under one
roof:
Food distribution center:
*A large kitchen equipped to prepare and distribute hot meals on a daily basis.
*Distribution of holiday food parcels to thousands of families, especially during holiday times.
*Large dining facilities to provide seating for needy
and homeless individuals.
Social Center for the elderly:
A social center in which
the elderly can spend their free time. Many of our
recipients are elderly Holocaust survivors and live alone, with few
relatives and friends. Others are homeless. Our centers
will provide space for much needed social programs for the elderly, who
are often lonely. At our facilities, they will be able to mingle
and socialize with each other, making their lives a little less isolated.
Social Center for Holiday Meals and
Activities:
When holidays
approach, the homeless and lonely often dine alone. These
central facilities will enable thousands to join together for Passover
Seder and other important holiday feasts.
Programs for youth:
The central facility
will provide a
location for youth to participate in social and educational
programs. To keep children off the streets, children need structured after-school programs, including
homework assistance, tutorials in math and reading, computer activities and sports.
Currently, Hazon Yeshaya partners with the municipalities around the
country to provide hot meals at extended-day school programs, enticing
children to come in off the streets.
Vocational Training:
Hazon Yeshaya already operates vocational training courses for those
who have been unable to gain a foothold in the workforce, including
those who didn't complete schooling, single mothers, discharged
soldiers who served their country and now find themselves with no
trade and at a dead end, and people whose trades have become
obsolete. The courses themselves serve a valuable function of
restoring self-confidence to people who have had their sense of
self-worth constantly undermined by the inability to put food on
their table. The new facility will enable us to greatly expand the
number classes and class selection.
Center for combat soldiers
without family in Israel:
There are many combat soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces who are
living in Israel without their families. Immigrants or orphans
often don't have a warm home to which to return during their leave time from
the army. Our proposed central facilities will not only offer a
"home away from home" with a social atmosphere and warm staff, but it
will provide food and sleeping accommodations as well, particularly for
weekends and holidays.
Nursery Schools:
Hazon Yeshaya currently operates nursery schools
that are recognized by the Ministry of Education. Hazon Yeshaya
believes that it is vital for poor children between the ages of 3-5 to
get a head start.
Clothing and shoe
warehouse:
The on-site warehouses would centralize our
distribution of clothing and shoes to the needy.
Throughout the years of our operation, we have been able
to witness the
difference Hazon Yeshaya has made in people's lives. We have
reached across barriers, helping Holocaust survivors,
the ill and handicapped, immigrants and native Israelis -
men, women and children. With your support, our central
facilities will be able to accommodate the needs of all who seek our help.
