Clothes & Shoes
Hazon Yeshaya operates a ware-house set up like a department
store where individuals and families in need of free clothing and
shoes can "shop" in a dignified manner, select and try on
merchandise, and receive personal assistance from a volunteer
to find what they need.
Free Dental Clinic
Hazon Yeshaya is in the final planning stages of providing a free
dental clinic for underprivileged children whose teeth would
otherwise not see a dentist. This is a result of discovering
children aged eight and nine who are already losing their adult
teeth. To make sure no children make it to such a calamitous stage,
the free dental clinic will be opened with the services of top
dentists who have each agreed to donate part of their valuable time
on a regular basis.
Holiday Packages
Prior to the holidays, Hazon Yeshaya distributes thousands of food
parcels nationwide to needy families. These parcels contain chicken
or meat, bread (or matza for Passover), fruits and vegetables, oil,
sugar, rice, cakes, cookies and other staples.
Bar and Bat Mitzvahs
Hazon
Yeshaya sponsors regular Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations in
Jerusalem for up to 80 boys and girls. These children, who are
orphans or who come from abusive or dysfunctional homes, have no
other opportunity to mark this important milestone in their lives.
During this “Day to Remember,” the children participate in a
prayer ceremony at the Kotel (Western Wall), enjoy a festive meal in
a restaurant, and receive personal gifts donated to the children in
honor of this special event.
Rice and Lentils
Nourish the Hungry
Hazon
Yeshaya is very grateful to Mr. Naim Dangoor of London,
who has generously committed to establishing the extremely successful
Rice and Lentils program.
Rice
and lentils are a healthy, nourishing food combination eaten by
millions of people around the world. Three times each week, with the
support of Mr. Dangoor’s Exilarch's Foundation,
Hazon Yeshaya distributes over 2,000 bags of cooked rice and lentils to needy families in Israel. These rice and lentils are the only meal these
families eat the entire day. While no one is required to pay, some put
money in a collection box, according to their ability, so that they do
not feel they are receiving a free handout.
Mr. Dangoor’s initiative began in response to former
Iraqi dictator Saddam
Hussein’s paying $10,000 to the families of suicide bombers. Mr.
Dangoor wanted to do something to help the families of terror victims
and the Rice and Lentils program was born. Hazon Yeshaya is grateful
for Mr. Dangoor’s ongoing assistance and support, which provides
renewed hope along with life’s most basic necessity to those most in
need.
