Free
Dental Clinic
Hazon Yeshaya now provides a free dental clinic
for underprivileged children and adults whose teeth would otherwise
not be treated by a dentist. It was discovered that people in Israel
were losing their teeth at an unprecedented rate simply because they
could not afford simple dentistry. The free dental clinic was
established with the services of top dentists who have agreed to
volunteer their services all who come to our soup kitchen. View

Vocational
Training
Hazon Yeshaya operates vocational training courses for
those who have been unable to gain a foothold in the workforce,
including those
who didn't complete schooling, single mothers, discharged soldiers who served their country and now find
themselves with no trade and at a dead end, and people whose trades have become
obsolete. The courses themselves serve a valuable function of
restoring self-confidence to people who have had their sense of
self-worth constantly undermined by the inability to put food on
their table. After completing the training and finding work, they
will become the breadwinners of their families, and cease to dine in
soup kitchens, thus restoring their dignity.

Clothes & Shoes
Hazon Yeshaya operates a ware-house set up like a department
store where individuals and families in need of free clothing and
shoes can "shop" in a dignified manner, select and try on
merchandise, and receive personal assistance from a volunteer
to find what they need.

Holiday Packages
Prior to the holidays, Hazon Yeshaya distributes thousands of
additional food
parcels nationwide to needy families. These parcels contain chicken
or meat, bread (or matza for Passover), fruits and vegetables, oil,
sugar, rice, cakes, cookies and other staples. For Passover,
2007, we distributed 15,000 parcels!

Bar and Bat Mitzvahs Hazon
Yeshaya sponsors regular Bar and Bat Mitzvah celebrations in
Jerusalem. These children, who are
orphans or who come from abusive or dysfunctional homes, have no
other opportunity to mark this important milestone in their lives.
During this “Day to Remember,” the children participate in a
prayer ceremony at the Kotel (Western Wall), enjoy a festive meal in
a restaurant, and receive personal gifts donated to the children in
honor of this special event. In 2006, we sponsored 250 kids!
Rice and Lentils
Nourish the Hungry
Hazon
Yeshaya is very grateful to Mr. Naim Dangoor of London,
who generously committed to establishing the extremely successful
Rice and Lentils program which began in 2002.
Rice
and lentils are a healthy, nourishing food combination eaten by
millions of people around the world. With the
support of Mr. Dangoor’s Exilarch's Foundation,
Hazon Yeshaya distributed over 2,000 bags of cooked rice and lentils each week to needy families in Israel. These rice and lentils were the only meal these
families ate the entire day. While no one was required to pay, some put
money in a collection box, according to their ability, so that they would not feel they
were receiving a free handout.
These days, a typical Hazon Yeshaya meal consists of chicken,
meat or fish, rice or pasta, cooked vegetables, soups, assorted
salads, bread, and fruits. But we will not forget Mr. Dangoor’s
assistance which provided
renewed hope along with life’s most basic necessity to those most in
need. Hazon Yeshaya is grateful for what he did as well as his
ongoing support.
